I uploaded a folder from my desktop to Dropbox, but I'm not seeing it on the website

Hi,

I uploaded the folder, containing all the folders of my website, from my desktop into Dropbox.

Next I tried two things:

  • I created a new folder, oploaded it to the the folder of my site on my desktop, checked the folder in Dropbox: the folder was not synchronised;
  • - I created a new folder, uploaded it to Dropbox, into the folder of my website, checked the folder on my desktop: the folder was not synchronised.

I would prefer that the first approach would work: work on my desktop, after I have finished the same folder in Dropbox it would synchronise.

Any help would be appreciated.

    On the desktop of my PC I do not have a Dropbox folder.

    If you have the Dropbox desktop application installed on your computer, then you have a local Dropbox folder. On a PC, the default location would be in your user profile. For instance ...

    C:\Users\[your username]\Dropbox

    Dropbox will only sync the files and folders placed in this folder. If you manually uploaded a folder from your Desktop to the Dropbox website, that was a one-time copy and won't continue to sync with the folder on your Desktop.

    The intention of Dropbox is that you move your files into the local Dropbox folder and work on them there. That way any changes you make within the folder will sync automatically.

    So I do not need the container folder that is sitting on my desktop anymore?

    I would compare the content of that folder to the one located in the local Dropbox folder. If they're the same, then you don't need it anymore and you should use the one in Dropbox.
