iOS Camera uploads is randomly skipping photos

I've been using Dropbox as a paying customer for many years and have always been happy with it.

I especially like the auto camera upload from mobile devices.

However lately I starting noticed that it doesn't always sync all new photos.

I have auto uploads turned on (on wifi and cellular) and since the latest mobile update (with the new UI/UX regarding photo uploads), I noticed that not all photos are synced.

It just seems to be random, happens both with videos as well as photos.

From the about 20 pictures / movies I made today, only 16 of them got uploaded.

This is really annoying ...  as I know have to check manually what is missing.

Is this a known issue and what can be done about it ?

Hi ddewaele, thanks for messaging the Community!

What device are you using, an Android or iOS device?

Do you apply any filters to the images, or use Live Photos, if on an iOS device?

This will help me to assist further!

It is an iOS device (iphone 12 Pro).

I have a paid Dropbox plan.

I have already restarted / reinstalled /logged out / logged in.

    It is random.

Sometimes live photos are uploaded sometimes not

Sometimes videos are uploaded sometimes not.

It has always worked without any issues but with since the new "Running camera uploads" UX in the app it is working unreliably.

I really need to be able to rely on an app like dropbox to always upload all of my pictures. Otherwise there's no real point in using it anymore.

Thanks for the info, I'd recommend contacting the support team directly for further assistance on this matter.

They should be able to look into this in more detail.

Hey Bou_, thanks for the nudge here and sorry to hear you're also having issues with this.

Have you tried contacting our support team as my colleague Jay mentioned above?

Let us know the ticket ID if you did, so we can look it up in our system.

PS: I'd recommend updating our mobile app and your device's OS to the latest version, as you'll be asked to do this by our team as a first step.

    This is my problem too.

    1) I have updated the app and it still occurs.

    2) If many of us are having this issue why point us to support?

    3) Has anyone had this issue resolved by support who could share the fix?

I discovered it after my phone was damaged and infiltrated by water (through a cracked lens) very sad to find that my photos of the last year or so are only partially backed up on dropbox.

I have had this same issue as well and it appears Dropbox has not cared to resolved it for anyone. Their priority appears to not be the photo app leaving customers with the issue in the dark for years.

I moved away from syncing photos to Dropbox because the app is completely not reliable for this and no help in sight. Due to this and the issue on storage limits, I am looking for an alternative to Dropbox.

Unless they can fix this problem and offer more personal storage than what is currently available, I have no choice but to move away from the service after 15+ years using it.
