Ah thanks for letting me know I'm not crazy!! I can buy this explanation, but Dropbox Tech Support told me "nothing changed from our end". You'd think they would definitively let their customers know something like this? Surely we're not the only ones using this feature! Are they just going to field huge numbers of tech support requests and never officially say this is the thing now?

I was wondering if there was any prompt upon enabling camera uploads that offered you to go to settings and adjust your permissions, and whether or not there's a possibility that it was skipped.
For reference, I just had a look from my side on our forum and came across this thread, that I believe references the existence of the setting you mentioned.
Although I can't tell what exactly went down when you first set up the feature, I wanted to thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us here.
Aside from that, if you notice anything else out of the ordinary, don't hesitate to follow up with the relevant details, so we can look further into this right away.
