Never-ending Backup in Dropbox Backup
For a couple of weeks now I have noticed this phenomenon...
When I opened the Dropbox Menu icon on my iMac I noticed that the Mac was backing up yet "Everything is up to date". I have checked in Finder and all the files that should be backed up are backed up (or are they?) because the green tick is there as would be expected.
Has anyone else got this problem and any ideas as to how I can fix this?
Hi Megan
Good news!
I deleted version 159.3.5865 and downloaded/installed version 158.4.4564 and all is now well.
Many thanks for the help from you and your team.

That's referring to files that are syncing. I don't think that includes any backups you may be running. Do you set up any backups? Check your Backups page?

I don't think there is a problem with syncing. Files I used this afternoon are already up in the cloud (very fast too!)
I have the usual folders being backed up (see Screenshot). Everything seems to be there what should be there eg files I created this afternoon.
I also have an external SSD being backed up which is working very smoothly with no problems. The Mac is still showing "Backing up" despite the files having been uploaded.
I have checked my syncing Bandwidths and both upload and download are set to Unlimited.

Hi jhedleyj, how are you today?
Interesting behavior you got going on there.
Can I ask the version of the desktop app that you have installed on your device? You can see this by hovering your mouse over your little Dropbox icon, that's on your menu bar next to your WiFi icon.
Let me know more, and we'll take it from there!

Hi Megan
The icon says “Dropbox 159.3.5865 Up to date”.
In the meantime nothing has changed. The dropdown panel still says it is still backing up but at the same time it is up to date!

Hi jhedleyj, do you have any files that are currently in use, which might prevent them from being uploaded to the site?

Hi, Jay
I have checked through my most recently used files and can find nothing unusual. I have checked through the files I have backed up and all of them have the green tick next to them. I have also closed all my apps except for Safari and stopped my Time Machine backups. No change.
Curiously, The folders I backup from my Mac are exactly those that I have stored on my external SSD but they back up at different times. The SSD backup takes place in the early hours when the Mac is not being used at all. I shall unplug the Time Machine drives and my SSD to see if that does anything.

Hey jhedleyj, while you're at it, you might also want to leave the Beta testing and after that install the stable version of the app.
I'll be waiting for your updates.

It's happening again! I downloaded 158.4.4564 as advised and everything has been fine - up until today. The dropdown from Menu icon says " Everything is up to date" but at the same time the Mac is constantly backing up. I notice that the version now installed is 159.4.5870 (which I did NOT install!) Does it automatically update? If so can I have my self-installed version back, please?
