Notification for file modification in shared folder on the mobile app.

Hello to all,

I have a few shared folders and I recently realised that I don't get mobile app notifications when changes are made to the files in the folder, even though I get the desktop notifications...

Is there a way to set these notifications on my phone?

Than you in advance.
Damien

Hey Damien C.1, sorry to jump in here.

It's actually expected not to receive notifications on the mobile app every time someone adds/edits a file in a shared folder.

If you want, as a workaround, you can follow the steps in this article to "follow" the folder; that way, you can receive email notifications for file actions in the folder.

    I hope this helps.

Hi Damien C.1, welcome to our Community!

Would you mind clarifying the OS you're using on your mobile phone?

When you open the app, do you see the notifications there, or not?

Let me know more, and we'll take it from there!

    Hello Megan,

My phone's OS is Android 11.

When I open the app, on the home page, it shows the recently open files (the ones I opened), but that's it.

I don't see any notifications about the other users' activity in the folder.

Thank you for the support! 🙂

Hi Damien C.1, it's my absolute pleasure, thanks for the info!

Do you also use the latest Dropbox version on your mobile app?

Also, it might sound trivial, but is it possible that you have connected a different Dropbox account to your Android?

Do you see all the relevant notifications enabled when visiting this page?

    Hello Megan,

    Thank you for the support!

Yes, it is the same account that is connected on both devices, I often used Dropbox to send files from one to the other. 🙂

I just checked, the app is updated automatically, so nothing wrong there.

And all notifications are ticked on the page you mention, but none seem appropriate to the situation: there is a "Files" section, which should be appropriate, but there is only one option "Shared folders activities (weekly summary)" (translated from French, so might not be 100% accurate)

But I see nothing to enable/disable the (near instantaneous) notifications I have on the desktop application... 😕

And also nothing that would concern only the desktop app or the mobile app...

The desktop app works fine; the mobile app just lacks instantaneous notifications.

Thank you again for your time!

    Damien

Hi Damien C.1, is it possible that you've disabled Dropbox-related notifications directly through the mobile's settings?

Can you check there too, in order to make sure that you're set to receive them?

    Hello Megan,

Thank you again for the support.

Everything is activated on the phone (but no option is specifically related to shared folder).
