Stuck "importing photos..."
My dropbox is set to auto import/upload my iphone photos, which it is doing. But it keeps telling me it's "importing photos..." and the menubar symbol is constantly the camera symbol that usually comes up when its importing. It's like its stuck.
Any help?
System: Macbook Pro, OSX El Capitan.

the problem appears sometimes to be caused by burst photos on the iPhone. After checking on my phone where it was getting stuck it was caused when the import process hit a series of burst photos
Go through the Burst Photos album within Photos on the iPhone and pick your favourites ensuring there are no burst photos saved and the dropbox app should continue to import the photos without getting stuck
Make sure to also delete the burst photos from recently deleted after picking your favourites

This worked for me....
Download latest version of dropbox dmg file. I got version 4.4.29.
https://www.dropbox.com/downloading
Please open the .dmg file and double click the Dropbox icon to install Dropbox.
It automatically re-indexes and returns the icon to the dropbox and the lovely 'Up to Date' status!

I reinstalled 4.4.29. After install it of course says "up to date"
It says that if you force quite dropbox and re-start the application.
The issue is when plugging in a phone or camera to sync photos, Dropbox fails to sync via the OSX application.Still hangs on import.
OSX 10.11.5
Iphone 6
Screenshots.
Hangs here, imported one single photo.... stuck at 7 seconds for the past hour.

Spoke too soon. (You're right John H...)
The problem seemed to go away with the update to 4.4.29. When i connected my phone it downloaded all my photos and videos, but it's stuck with the logo and 'importing photos' status!
Over to you, Dropbox....

Dropbox still stuck during importing photos and videos from iPhone.
El Capitan 10.11.5
Dropbox 4.4.29
Reinstalling OS X and Dropbox app doesn't help.
After first launching it import 430 photos and then stuck.
After relaunching Dropbox app it import next 101 photos and then stuck again.
After relaunching Dropbox app again it import next 456 photos and then stuck again.
After relaunching again, again and again it always stuck at the beginning (0 photos imported).
But I still have over 2000 photos in addition to already imported photos.

sudo chflags -R nouchg ~/Dropbox ~/.dropbox
sudo chown "$USER" "$HOME"
sudo chown -R "$USER" ~/Dropbox ~/.dropbox
sudo chmod -RN ~/.dropbox ~/Dropbox
chmod -R u+rw ~/Dropbox ~/.dropbox
This fixed it for me

Out of curiosity, is your OSX account an admin on your system?
I use a lower user account elevate to an admin account as needed. Performed all the changes you listed to the file system, ended up with the below. Restarted Dropbox, issue remains. I'm about to reboot now, not that I expect that to make a difference.
The commands got me thinking, perhaps this is an issue b/c of my account not being OSX admin level. Even though the account has full read/write access to the ~/Dropbox directory.

Six months down the line and the camera upload getting stuck is still an issue. Using Dropbox v5.4.24 on OSX 10.11.5. I'm pretty sure that the issue originated with an El Capitan update.
When I reported the issue to Dropbox support for assistance, the answer is a generic response to check the knowledge database and then search this forum.
