Syncing icons on the files in the Dropbox folder have changed
Hello The Finder Extension Icons indicating whether a file or folder is Online Only or Available Offline are showing up in my Finder, however, the statuses are incorrect. For instance a folder that ...

Like several on this thread, support has been in direct contact with me on this issue. So I'll give a +1 for reaching out and listening to feedback. The latest is an offer to revert the icons back (+1). However "we will still need to eventually transition to new sync icons sometime in 2023 to adhere to requirements being set by Windows and macOS" (-1).
There still has been no explanation as to why this icon change was made (-1). DropBox appears to be saying that Microsoft and Apple made them do it but that doesn't make any sense to me. What, specifically, are these so called requirements being set by Windows and macOS? And even if there are some sort of requirements that require a change, the DB dev team needs to go back to the drawing board and come up with a better solution that makes sense and doesn't destroy the original sync icon scheme.

Yes, I am pleased that they have individually reached out and stemmed the bleeding by getting us individually reverted to the old system. But they are warning us that they may not be able to keep this in place. I am also hoping that having the long on ramp will encourage them to figure out how to make icons that work for workflow.

Hi all,
Still a problem here in January. No updates have changed it back.
Thanks to everyone who have tried to keep this issue prominent. I'm hoping they will work with me as well to revert the icons.
@dropbox, please add an extra icon to indicate this important information once again. - arronhawk33 years agoNew member | Level 2

Since it doesn't seem there will be a change back to the old sync icon meanings, any word on if we can just simply get one more icon to denote if a folder has mixed online/offline files in it? This one update would fix so much of the problem. Reverting back to the old/better sync icon meanings would solve the problem best... But since that doesn't seem to be an option, just adding one more icon to show if a folder has mixed online/offline files would be tremendously helpful. Honestly, this is a constant/daily pain that takes hours of my time to work around—ie searching through thousands of folders, all with the same cloud icon, to try to find any rouge filed buried within that can be made Online Only. I can't say enough how incredibly much it would help the situation if Dropbox could just add one more icon to denote if a folder has a mix of online/offline files.
