Syncing the same folders after manually copying them takes forever

So I have a 150gb music library on dropbox - one main folder with many subfolders etc.
I have a new PC and want that music folder and dropbox app on the new PC.
I don't want to use all my internet (limited mobile data) so I manually copy the folder to an external drive then into the new PC's dropbox folder (over the top of the same one the new pc dropbox install made). Same folder structure etc on both machines. It's not uploading files - just seems to be indexing.

WHHHHHYYY is it taking hours and hours to index sync this folder? It says in the app will take 15 days to sync lol. I'm having a flash back of doing this before and I had to pretty much disable dropbox and only run it at night when I was sleeping and it took weeks to finish. That was years ago I was hoping for a better experience this time around.

Was there a better way to do this?
Any help appreciated.

Update - it just finished syncing. So took about 36 hours all up for anyone else reading this.
You just have to turn notifications off whilst it's doing it and you won't really notice the process.

Hi Megan thanks for your reply - I did leave it on over night. But there was still 27000 files to log the next day lol.
I ended up turning off sync, but I will turn it back on and let it run over night again today and see what happens and get back to you.

    Hi Ollie J.!

Hope things are going smoothly! Just wanted to check if you still need a hand. If all's well, feel free to share what did the trick.

Hi Ollie J., thanks for taking the time to message us!

Currently, there isn't a faster method to do what you're asking. As your music library is rather large, this would mean that there are a lot of files and folders that need to be indexed by the Dropbox desktop application.

This will take extremely low bandwidth when compared to downloading files from scratch, so you took the best step to get your files across to your new machine.

I'd advise being patient with the app, and perhaps leaving your machine on overnight if need be to see if this helps.

Let me know if you need any more assistance in the future!
