The files from my file requests are being uploaded to different folders.
Normally you just click a folder, do a file request and it's fine - now they're uploading into totally different folders, why? None of the files are going where I need them to be!

Hi NikkyH, let's see what we can find about this together!
As a first step, can you clarify which browser you're using at the moment, and also confirm that you're following these steps?
I'd like you to also try a different browser, just to notice if the behavior remains the same there.
Keep in mind that when creating a file request, you should see a "Folder for uploaded files" and next to that you'll see the path to your new folder. You can always choose to change the destination, by pressing "Change Folder".
Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!

I use a Mac and therefore Dropbox in Finder - increasingly it does not see files, this has been going on for several months. If I go online and look in the browser they're there but they are invisible on the Mac Finder folder for some reason. Software is up to date. I've just reset the folder on the Request File setting but it was already setup correctly. I tested it myself and it uploaded immediately on browser but 10 mins later it still isnt in the folder when I view in Finder. The issues seem to be when I add requests for new people, I've been using DB for over 10 years without issues until probably 6 months ago.
Also - I just noticed the sync is saying everything is renamed - what is that about? Is that to do with this new Mac thing which I havent installed yet?

Do the files have any characters in their name that would prevent them from syncing down to your computer?

Dropbox is creating new folders and storing the files there, not in the parent folder I want them. Yesterday 1 found 2 new folders that had been created with files in - these were nothing to do with me, and at the same time when I found the path and searched in mac finder I could also see a load of other files from 2 months ago that were missing. I still can't work out where those are though because it's some random folder I didnt create.

Hey NikkyH - thanks for the additional information,
Can you maybe send us a couple of screenshots of how it looks on your end so that we can have a visual too?

This is my shared folder they upload to
I just realised that in the DB window it's actually duplicated my main Upload Folder to a different place, outside of my normal file structure:
The files are completely different in the second one although they have the same folder structure. Maybe I requested files to the 2nd folder instead of the first one but there should not be a duplicate at all! No wonder I'm running out of disk space.

Hey NikkyH! If you go to your Dropbox account online, do you see the same two duplicate folders there, as well?
Other than that, you can also visit your File requests page here and double check what’s the destination folder for each one of your file requests.

After googling, I think there's been some kind of sync issue so I've actually deleted the folder now and hope that's going to fix it once and for all. I'll let you know if not LOL!
