Upload lagging with a few secs left but then files were completed upon restart
Hello,
I would like to ask about uploading files to dropbox because I had an issue yesterday when trying to process so many many files on my work computer so I can replace one myself but was worried because the upload time was lagging for some time with 17 seconds left to complete with one file left as I had no choice to turn off computer and restart one as it now says that upload has been complete. My question is whether or not if some of files were lost throughout the long process because I can see most of the files being successfully uploaded from my end but not sure if the files were completed by itself despite the long 17 second lag upon re-opening Dropbox after the restart? It's not for my personal account but for my work account and it always stays logged in without needing to log out every time I use them.

Hi sportsman1, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Just to check, were you directly uploading files to the Dropbox site, or by moving files into the Dropbox folder with the Dropbox desktop application installed?
This will help me to assist further!

The dropbox site through a web browser, not through a dedicated dropbox software app as I refer.

Generally, uploading through the site doesn't allow for files to be restarted.
Do the files preview normally on the site? What about after you download them to your computer?

From what I recall when I got back to Dropbox after I restarted the computer as if I had no choice, I see that my files are uploaded through successfully. But since there's like more than 5000 of them, I can't tell if all of them has gone through or if some has lost. Yes, I can see the preview of files being lined up while at the downloading phase but then upon restart, it no longer shows the files preview tab - don't know what that means as I assume the uploads are done but then maybe some files are lost despite the long "17 seconds and 1 file to go" lag and also my file explorer was also freezing/not responding at the time.

Hey sportsman1, what do you see in your events page about this? Does it show you the correct number of files uploaded?

okay, i haven't had the chance to check that yet since I'm not back until the start of next week. Is it okay I update it here after this and let you know?

Hey sportsman1, that's absolutely okay!
Take your time, and give us a shout when you have more info for us.
Take care!
- sportsman12 years agoExplorer | Level 3Upon checking, it tells me the amount of files I downloaded individually rather than the total files I’ve downloaded for a specific folder which I couldn’t find even though I know where to find a specific folder.

Do you have the original folder in your computer, to compare the number of files in it, to the number of files uploaded to Dropbox?
There's no other way to confirm this, I'm afraid.
- sportsman12 years agoExplorer | Level 3I guess I’m happy with the files I need to back it up and put onto another computer for now. If anything should someone needs to recover some permanently delete files from a different machine, then a professional would help since there’s barely any important stuff that is worth keeping. And if I need anything, should I open a brand new thread?
