see screenshots below on the sequence. very frustrating an lacking in-app help of any kind to explain why.

Hi sheridap, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Are you getting this error on any location on your account, or just within this above folder?

Is a shared folder to which you have read-only access?

This will help me to assist further!

I'm also getting the exact same error. For me, it's not a shared folder.

Hi FCBC, sorry to hear about this.

Could you clear your browser's cache and/or try another browser?

If you do and still get the same results, please send us a screenshot so that we can have a visual too.

      Thanks!

        I own the containing folder.

I just cleared cache and cookies and logged in again.

Tried to create a folder the same way as the OP; got this error:

        Chrome 107.0.5304.62 on macOS 13.0.

Just tried on Android app 305.1.4 on Pixel 7 Pro:

Aside from the UI bug that I reported months ago and doesn't seem to be a priority to fix (the fact that the contents of the text field are offset and cut off), I can't create a folder that way, either.

But files seem to be syncing across devices just fine.

In our company account, as an admin, I can no longer create folders at the top level. The create button is no longer clickable. I am told I do not have authorization.

Hi Karlov, welcome to our Community!

Just to clarify, are you trying to create a Team folder? Also, what do you see when you hover your mouse over the "i" icon on the top of the page?

Let me know more, and we'll take it from there!

        Hi Megan,

        Tnak you for your message.

I am trying to create any folder on the top level. I am being told here that I do not have the permission.

Having the same issue, can't create any folder anywhere (normally can) - have tried clearing browser/using a different browser, just keeps saying 'can't create folder'

Hi sunnie1ee, are you able to create a folder in the Dropbox folder on your machine, so that it syncs to the site?

I’m only wanting to work online, but yes it is allowing me to create a folder on the app itself.

I have this exact same problem, in the same order and with the same dialogue boxes. It's been like this for months now and is very annoying. I can't rename folders, create new ones (shared or just for me) and I'm the owner of the Pro account.  I can't see the this was resolved, at all?

Hey PlayLearningLife, sorry to hear about this.

Are you having this issue, while connected to a corporate or a personal network?

Have you tried different browsers or a private browsing window?

If using Safari, click <Safari> to get the dropdown menu. Click "settings for dropbox.com", and uncheck "enable context blockers".
