Why doesn't the Dropbox client show the current file being synced?
Application Affected
Dropbox client
Device
MacBook Pro
Operating System/Browser (if using the web)
macOS 26.2
Dropbox App Version (if using the app)
238.4.6075
Question or Issue:
If I have added a bunch of new files the client doesn't actually indicate which file is currently syncing. I just get a long list of files "waiting to sync" and a current count. It only actually shows the file currently syncing when it's the last file to sync. Am I missing something?
If not it would be super nice to actually have the current file syncing in addition to the count.

I see, thanks for clarifying that for me and also thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on this with us jk36. I've passed your comments on to the team and you can let me know if you have anything else to add.

Yes I can see the end of the queue and no it doesnt show what file is syncing. Adding a screenshot now that there are only 4 files left to sync and everything can be on-screen at once. Anything after (even all the way to the bottom) the 4 "waiting to sync" files says "added". And just to make sure its clear....I'm using the Apple FileProvider API version of Dropbox.

I see, thanks for clarifying that for me jk36 - much appreciated.
Just one last thing to clear up here. Are you able to scroll down the list of files waiting to be synced (shown in your screenshot)?
If so, are you able to reach the end of the sync queue to see more information?

No. And clicking on it only brings up the pause menu.

Thanks for the screenshot jk36 - most appreciated.
Does the app give you any additional information when you hover your mouse over the number of files that are syncing?

Clicking on the menu bar icon. Screenshot is attached showing 105 files waiting to sync, a progress bar for whatever is currently syncing, and no indicator of the file actually syncing.

Hey jk36, let's jump right into this!
As a first step can you clarify which steps you follow in order to check your app's syncing status?
Do you locate your little Dropbox icon on your menu bar, next to your WiFi and hover your mouse over it, or do you click on the little icon itself and check the activity center?
Can you also send me a screenshot of how it looks like on your end when the app is syncing content?
Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!
