Dropbox separate storage

Can I store files on Dropbox but not on my desktop computer/laptop/phone? I'm trying to free up space on my devices and don't want to sync - I'd rather have a place to store videos and large file items OFF my devices.

If yes, once I move a file to Dropbox, can I delete it off my device with it remaining in Dropbox?

  • Hi Dawn Payne, thanks for messaging the Community!

Generally, Dropbox is primarily a file syncing service, and not a backup service. However, it is possible to try to make it work like you want it to by following these steps in a thread I created.

If you need any further assistance, please let me know!
