Solved

How can a backup be completely deleted to free up my space?

A 3 TB drive started backing up (either I clicked the wrong option, or it just started doing it).

I cancelled it once I realised - but how I now completely delete the 'backup' from my space?

It's 4 gb and it's useless but I can't see how to completely remove it - it's more than the files I actually use on dropbox.

Any thoughts?

Hey Willwill40, thanks for posting your question to the Dropbox Community!

You should be able to delete your external drive backup, by following the steps here (scroll down for the external backup steps).

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for the reply - I'd already seen all these help pages.
The answer's not here - it's actually done through
    https://www.dropbox.com/backup/all
where all Backups can be seen / deleted etc.
    Thanks though.
