Solved

It says my account uses 16 GB of space but it looks like there are no files in my account

Device
(HP Pavilion, One plus Nord)
Operating System/Browser (if using the web)
(Windows 10)
Dropbox App Version (if using the app)
(450.2.2)

Question or Issue
I am not able to see any folders or photos in dropbox, although it says that 16 GB space is occupied. same is the case with desktop and mobile app. A sleeping dog on purple cushion appears when i click on 'photos'. please help.

  • Welcome to our Community, PriyankaD!

If the account appears empty, even though it claims to have space taken up, it might be possible that you have some files saved in your backups.

Do you see any files on this page?

Let me know and we'll go from there.

Hi there PriyankaD and thanks so much for popping into the Dropbox Community! 😊

I’m really glad to see the issue is resolved - storage mismatches like that can definitely be confusing, so it’s great that everything is looking right again. Thanks for taking the time to come back and share the update, too. It really helps others who might run into the same thing!

By the way, I’m Theresa 👩‍💻, one of the community managers here at Dropbox HQ. Since you’ve been checking into your account storage, I’d love to know… how do you usually use Dropbox in your day-to-day? Whether it’s personal projects, work files, photos or something totally different, I’m always curious to hear how people make Dropbox part of their routine.

    Looking forward to hearing more,

    T 😺 (Dropbox Community Manager)

Thank you for the info and the link. I was able to access backup files and have deleted them so that my dropbox has more space for other things now.
