My account keeps saying it's full - but it isn't
Hi - I have a 6.3 GB basic account with less that 1.2 GB of data in it, but I keep getting notifications saying the account is full, and it isn't syncing. I've double checked my folders and cleaned out all deleted items, but it makes no difference. I have been unable to contact any sort of support through the website, so am hoping someone might know how to fix this. Thanks.

Hi @frot, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Deleted files don't take up space on your account, so removing there wouldn't have made any difference to the quota.
Is it possible you have a backup enabled and visible on this page on your account?
This will help me to assist further!

Hello,
For a few weeks now, Dropbox has been unable to sync my files.
When I use the online interface, it says that my Dropbox is full: "Used space: 43.25 Gb of 2 Gb".
However, I only have a few files and a small shared folder, accounting in total for about 50 Mb.
I have deleted every file and folder from my Dropbox and left every shared folder. The web interface shows that my Dropbox is completely empty.
However, it still says that it is full, with still more than 43 Gb used.
How can I solve this? Is there a way to reset my dropbox to 0 b used, wiping all files?
Thanks,
Thomas

Hi KatarzynaMaria & n_air , I hope you're both doing well!
Can you send me a picture of your Home page please?
Also Katarzyna, could you check your account's plan page, and let me know what it reports there?
Do you have any Backups enabled?
Let me know more!

Hello
I had indeed a backup of a drive, using 43 Gb.
I had even no idea DropboxBackup existed.
I have deleted it and it solved my issue.
Thanks!

Hello again,
neither in the webinterface nor in the app the origin of the amount of data is recognizable for me. thank you again! - KatarzynaMaria3 years agoHelpful | Level 6
Hello again,
how can I determine if I have (accidentally) activated the backup! - saerdna3 years agoExplorer | Level 4
I can confirm what Katarzyna, my friend, wrote.
Is it a bug in the
a Web interface of Dropbox,
b interface of the Dropbox app for Windows and
c interface of the Dropbox app for Android
that it is not transparently displayed what amount of storage is used for which folder/ for which function?
We would be very happy if you help us to fix the problem. Thanks. - KatarzynaMaria3 years agoHelpful | Level 6
Hello again,
I just wanted to confirm that my problem is solved, it was the backup. It took a lot of effort to find out.
I wonder, however, why the operators cannot inform the users, even when they ask, what the storage space is filled with. Why are users not informed explicitly and without being asked in the settings where the storage space is being used up? More clarity would be in the interest of the user.
Instead, expensive upgrades are immediately recommended.
