Online my account is full but on the desktop app it shows less space is used.
Hi Guys,
My local Windows Dropbox is fully synced with my online Dropbox. Windows Explorer file/properties shows my Dropbox folder is 576 MB but to my surprise, dropbox.com and dropbox app both say my dropbox is full. I have checked the plan tab and found my regular file size is 3.4 GB which is not correct. My shared folder only takes less than 100 MB. What is going on here? Why the discrepancy? Any inputs?
Thanks,
Tao
We can confirm that the most recent releases of Dropbox should have resolved this issue. Users affected by this issue were unable to see all of the backups on their account. This meant that when they believe they deleted some or all of their files, there could still be backups taking up space on their account. This should no longer be affecting users who should be able to see all of their backups.
You can find out deleted information on disabling and deleting backups below:
If you disable the backup and choose to "Leave content in Dropbox", your backup content would still be there until it was permanently deleted.
When you go to the Backups page and see no content, be sure to check the deleted section, too.
You can download the files from this location if you need to store them locally on your device.
To clear out the data from the deleted backup, follow these steps:- Navigate to
dropbox.com/backup/all - Click on
Show deleted backups - Select their backup and click on
permanently delete
Some users did not have backups, but they were members of shared folders which were taking up space on their accounts. You can remove shared folders using these instructions.

Hi AlistairGK, let's jump right into this!
Can you check the plan tab in your account settings, and let me know what it reports there? If you were excessively over your allocated quota, you'd need to delete a lot of files, in order to free-up your space.
What about any shared content? I'd personally suggest that you follow the steps our Community Manager, Emmet posted here.
Let me know if you need anything else!
- prb03103 years agoExplorer | Level 4Yes I barely have ANYTHING in the account. Something pushed it over the 2.7gb so I deleted over half of what was in there and it keeps building and pushing over to 2.9gb although I'm adding nothing. I think it's time to delete my account but thanks

I keep getting the following message but I have paid for the unlimited plan. Is this message legitimate? The sender address is: no-reply@em-s.dropbox.com

Hi Susan,Your Dropbox storage has reached 100% capacity and is no longer syncing. To get your Dropbox back to shape, upgrade to a Dropbox business plan today and get at least 3 TB (3,000 GB) of space and powerful sharing features.

What does www.dropbox.com/account/plan show?
My guess is you have 2 accounts and accidentally upgraded the other one

Hi,
I know a lot of people have written about this, but I think I've tried everything suggested with no luck. Here's the story:
I've had a paid account for about a year, but just downgraded to a free account. When I did I got a notice that I was out of space. I checked the size of the files in my dropbox and they were well under the 2GB limit (plus my free account is 15GB). I then removed every single file and folder from my dropbox, deleted them, signed out, deleted the app, reinstalled and signed back in. It still says I have over 100GB of stuff on my drive.
I'm not part of any shared folders as far as I can tell. I don't have backups enabled. I'm really not sure where else to look, but my dropbox refuses to sync even though it's empty.
Any suggestions?

Thanks for letting us know, Josh16.
If you don't have any shared folders and you've checked your backups page and don't have any backup files taking up your space, can you please check Emmet's solution here, to see if it helps?

That solved it. I had a deleted backup from a year ago that wasn't "all the way" deleted. Thank you
- Jcdinpgh3 years agoExplorer | Level 3I have had a free account for many years. It rarely has new files added to it but recently has started reporting that it is full. My Dropbox folder does not have even close to 2gb of data in it. I unlinked my devices and uninstalled on all devices and reinstalled the Dropbox app on just one windows device but it still says my account is full. When I logged into the www and looked at my Dropbox files, it also does not have anywhere close to 2gb of data in it. I don't see anywhere close to 2gb anywhere. I made copies of all of my Dropbox data just in case but I have no idea why it thinks my account has 648.2gb. Also although I have a free account, the app says I am using 648.2gb of 5.3gb not 2gb.
