Re: My account keeps saying it's full - but it isn't

I am told my basic dropbox is full, but I am informed that with my limited needs it shouldn't be. How do I identify what is taking up this space, and what I can do to get things under the limit

Thank you. The Back up page indicates External Drive 6.08GB and PC 306.76MB.

The personal dropbox space indicates Regular files  1.3GB,  Backup 6.1GB

Hey Grahamdragon, from what you're reporting, it seems like you have enabled the external backup feature on your Dropbox application and an external drive of yours is taking up your space and bringing your account over its quota.

You can disable that by following these steps.

    I hope this helps!

    Hi Hannah

Thanks. When clicking on the icon it does not display Sync and Backups. It simply displays the sync history

Hey Grahamdragon, can you try these steps?

    1. Click on the Dropbox icon in your system tray/menu bar
    2. Click on your initials/profile pic/gear icon
    3. Click on Preferences
    4. Click on the "Backups" tab

Yes, that takes me to 'Ask to back up external drives' with a slide toggle, which is toggled to the right. I am assuming that if I slide it to the left, this will be switched off.

Perfect, that's basically what you need to do, to stop the external drive from being backed up to your Dropbox and taking up your space.

If you disable that, your space will be freed up.

Hey Grahamdragon - sorry to jump in here, but you should be able to add screenshots in your reply through the camera icon (insert photo option) within your reply's box.

If you don't see it, you can try another browser or another device.

    Keep us posted anyhow!

Can you try clicking on the three dots next to your backups (as shown in your first screenshot) to see if you can delete them from there Grahamdragon ?
