Referral sent to a friend marks as inelegible
Hi
I sent a request to a friend for them to install Dropbox. They followed all the process steps and were awarded 259mb. On my account against their referral email, it is marked as ineligible.
This does not make any sense, they set up the account on a different computer. So why is this marked as ineligible? Can someone please look into this for.
My email is <<removed to avoid spam>>
Regards, Tahir
- Hey Ranim Al-shakifi, thanks for joining the discussion here and happy Monday!
I just wanted to mention that when the recipient is ineligible for the referral program, there are two possible reasons:
One is that the recipient has already registered an account with Dropbox with that email address, or that the recipient is attempting to register using the same computer as you.
If you feel this status is inaccurate double-check the email address of your recipient to try again.

Afternoon,
One of my referrals indicates as "ineligible" under my profile.
Could Dropbox please contact me via email to discuss and rectify?
Much appreciated

In order to look into this further, I've sent you an email.
Please could you reply to it when you get a chance?

Hi
I have referred two people to dropbox. One family member and one friend. One signed up in another country and another in a different household and different LAN. But their status show "ineligible" even after doing everything correct. Can this please be rectified to enable me to get the bonus storage for both people? Everything was done according to the rules.

Have them check at http://www.dropbox.com/account/plan to see if they got the bonus space from you signing up?
And if they can see the device (computer) at http://www.dropbox.com/account/security its worth noting as well that Surfaces or devices where you download from an App Store dont count, it has to be full client.

Are they installing on a desktop computer? Mobile devices such as iPads and mobile phones do not count towards the referral scheme.

As previously explained, I refer DropBox to my students. Because of the awkwardness of obtaining the earned space, I use the Refer a Friend option on the website while the student is being taught here, so I can see and guide what they do. To get round the 'same network' issue, because I have two networks here - a main network and a repeater network, in order to avoid disqualification I ensure that we are logged into different networks. I watched them click on the referral link, download and install the app, but their status is still shown as 'Waiting for Install'. If Dropbox really wants to encourage referrals, please could the process for release of earned be made more straight-forward and simple? - Nancy5 months ago

Welcome to our forum, TaoChen! Hope you're doing well.
To clarify, your colleagues clicked on the referral link you sent them to create a Dropbox account, before installing the desktop app on their devices, correct?
Basically, I want to make sure that they’ve followed all the steps outlined in our Help Center article here.
Let me know, and we’ll check this further.
