Hi as shown in the screen shot above,. they are not in the Dropbox folder.

No, they are not.
But a version does show on the online Dropbox.
Shopuld I eneble BAckup again in Dropbox Backend & do it differently?

Aside from the aliases, if you search for 'Desktop' for instance, does it bring up any other folders on your machine?
Do you have any files on the desktop currently? If you use Get Info on them, are you able to see the full folder path?
