After Dropbox update it won't open on startup (Mac); asks me to go to dropboxer.net
I got a request from dropbox to make an update which would move the dropbox from one place on the Mac to another (Monterey 12.6). I did this. since then when I start up I get a pop-up message on the ...

I tend to agree, though Dropbox was a phishing victim in October and the files accessed there could very well have been internal tools like this.

OK - but how do we do this? I'm trying to find anything about updating to the latest version, but am only getting links to upgrading my account. There's nothing the Mac app store that I can see either.

Plus: I've been reading people 's messages here about problems with syncing after they try to update the version.
FWIW: I have version 167.4.4719 and macOS Monterey 12.6.3.
What number is the new version of the app?
- ardmara3 years agoHelpful | Level 6
OK, fine, but the problem has not been resolved. Emmet announced that the issue was resolved. It is not.
I'm using the version I mentioned above.
I still am getting the same messages that I pasted in right at the top of this discussion when I start up. Start up is taking longer than it should. If I simply click 'ok' on the messages, rather than following links, the dropbox then works fine from the app in the dock, but does not appear on the top bar across the screen.
It's a pain, and means I have to be at my computer 10 minutes before I want to do anything.

Could you click the blue link in the second image and then copy and paste the error log here to see what the issue could be related to?

Thanks for the info, I believe an advanced re-installation, as was recommended earlier in the thread, would assist on this matter.
- ardmara3 years agoHelpful | Level 6
OK: I think it's fixed! however, the instructions on your site and the actuality on my machine were different at a couple of points; and after I had finished, it asked me to download the latest version of dropbox...!!!??? I ignored that, closed it, as the link you gave me said it was for the latest version. Before I started I got some advice from a technician at work about the 'terminal' app and how to use it, as I'd never used it before.
So, thanks; but PLEASE don't assume that even people who have used Macs for 25 years understand technical terms. The instructions can be bewildering and, frankly, scary.
- ardmara3 years agoHelpful | Level 6
And... it is NOT working!!!!
Jay Emmet I followed those instructions and it seemed fine last night. But this morning it has the same fault. the message is:
