Attaching Dropbox files to Emails on iPhone X Suddenly Stopped Working
Up until recently, I was able to attach files from Dropbox to my emails on my iPhone X. I use Polymail and Apple Mail. However, recently, the attachment dialogue stopped showing Dropbox as an option under "Locations". See screengrab for details
Dropbox attachments still works on my iPad.
I have tried reinstalling dropbox, updating to the latest iOS and restarting the phone–– to no avail.
Pls help.
Hi there,
Apologies for the trouble with the Dropbox and Files.app integration. Could you try opening the Files app directly, going into the “Edit” menu in the upper right, then re-enabling the Dropbox integration?
We have heard reports that when people uninstall and re-install the Dropbox app, or when they do an iCloud restore, this integration needs to be re-enabled manually.
Let us know if that works!

Hey there (RonW), happy 2019! While the Files app should have come pre-installed on your device, if you’ve accidentally deleted it, you could restore it at a later time by downloading it from the App Store. I hope that this addresses your concern!

- Amyjulia7 years agoNew member | Level 2I still cannot attach a file in an email on my iPhone X as dropbox isn’t even an option. I deleted the app and reinstalled it and still no luck. What else can I do as I need this feature to work and used it constantly before the iPhone X?
- Larry15007 years agoNew member | Level 2I loaded iOS 13 and still have problems so I read the complaints and tried something. I changed the files in Dropbox I send the most from cloud to offline. The offline files will load in iOS mail as attachments. Instructions to change from cloud to offline are in Dropbox if needed.
- C2mill7 years agoNew member | Level 2Hi Folks - just to clarify - scroll through the apps on your device (not through settings or anywhere else) and you should find one that is titled “Files”. Its a light blue icon with a picture of a file folder on it. Open the app and tap the 3 blue dits in the upper right hand corner. Then tap edit and hopefully you will see dropbox as an option that can be turned on by sliding the slider to the right (it will turn green) now dropbox should be an option in your attachments toolbar - good luck!

Hi,
This solution does not work for me. I have it all marked up properly but a message saying "contents unavailable, the folder contents could not be displayed because of an unknown error." It was working fine until two days ago. The dropbox app is ok. The problem is the integration with files.app and apple mail.

Hi Emilio Agrofino; welcome to our Community!
Can you please let us know which exact version of the mobile app you're using on the affected device?
Also, could you remove Dropbox as a location from your Files app and then re-add it? This might do the trick for you.
In any case, please keep us posted, Emilio.
