Difference in using Dropbox.com VS File explorer VS dropbox app

I am having a hard time understanding the differences in the 3 ways to login

what one is best to use easiest to ; rename files/move folders/create new folders & subfolders ?

do they all sync at the same time?

Hey ambern1023, thanks for joining our Community.

Dropbox has three basic platforms, let's say; the Dropbox website, the desktop app and the mobile app.

Both the website and the mobile app are more "internet based", as you need to be connected to the internet to access your files*.

The desktop app creates a Dropbox folder locally on your hard drive, which works just like any other folder on your computer, just with syncing abilities and allows you to access your files offline as well.

If you're familiar with renaming/moving/creating etc. files through your file explorer, I would suggest you use the desktop app to perform these tasks, otherwise it's up to you and what you prefer.

If you connect all these platforms to the same Dropbox account, any changes you make to your files on any of the platforms, will sync to the rest.

I hope this helps, but let me know if you still have questions.

*There is an offlining feature available on the mobile app, which allows you to make your files available even if you're not connected to the internet.

You suggest using the desktop app instead of file explorer is there any specific differences in using one over the other

Hi ambern1023, the desktop app uses file explorer, since the Dropbox folder is what is synced via the Dropbox desktop application.
