Dropbox app crashing on Android 11

Hi,
I just changed my old phone for a pixel 4a, with android 11, and I can install the dropbox app from the play store just fine.
The problem is that I can not open it. As soon as it shows the dropbox logo it stops working.
I know this is still a really new version of Android, I just wanted to know if that is a known behavior and if you are already taking in consideration as one of the bugs to fix on future releases.
Thanks

  • Hi afk, thanks for messaging today!

We're not experiencing any similar issues to this currently..

If you're not on a Dropbox Basic plan with more than 3 devices connected, could you try uninstalling the app, rebooting your device, and reinstalling it?

Keep me updated with any progress!

It was not the devices. I do not know what happened but uninstaling and reinstalling did the trick.

    Thanks!

This solution did not work.  Very frustrating.  I have better than the basic Dropbox plan.  Currently one computer and 3 mobile devices with Dropbox and two with the Password Manager.  Android Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G.  Bought a new Galaxy S22 Ultra.  The app on the Note 20 for passwords works fine except that passwords entered via the app on the device don't sync with the website.  The Dropbox password app can be installed on the new device but it won't open.  Crashes before opening.  Uninstalled Dropbox and Dropbox Password apps on the Ultra22.  Powered back up the phone and reinstalled the apps.  Dropbox opens but the password app doesn't.  About ready to cancel the entire Dropbox that I've had since 2014.

Hey pollyannet, let's jump right into this!

In regards to the syncing issue you mentioned, can you try adding a password on more than one device, and see if any of your passwords sync across?

This will help to narrow down if the syncing problem exists only with one of your devices, or if multiple devices are affected.

For example: If your passwords are syncing between two devices, but they are not syncing to a third device, we can narrow the problem down to just the third device and ensure that each problematic device is connected to the internet.

As for the app, that keeps crashing, can you reach out to our Support, in order for them to open a ticket for you?

    Let me know more!
