1 year agoHI all, for anyone who's still affected by this, could you let us know here so that we can reach out via email to have a further look internally?

I'm still having the same issues. I cannot open any files through windows explorer, because it freezes (endless loading) as soon as I click on a folder or file.
- ssjandres1 year agoExplorer | Level 3
Of course. And thank you in advance.

Hey @FLSunshine, thanks for posting here!
When did this start happening exactly?
Would you mind clarifying your exact OS and the version of the Dropbox app you have installed on the device, please?
Let me know more, and we'll take it from there!

This has been ongoing for a very long time. As a matter of fact, I thought it was my hard drive, so i replaced that, still happening.

Hey @FLSunshine, thanks for the info!
Do you notice this behavior only within your Dropbox folder? Also, what exactly happens and is your issue the same as the OP?
It'd help me to also have an idea of how many files you have locally within your Dropbox folder. Feel free to send me a screenshot of the folder's properties, in order for me to have a visual.

I too was having this issue. The issue stopped as soon as I uninstalled the iCloud app downloaded from the Microsoft Store in Windows 10.
This just started recently, as I used to run both side-by-side without issues for years. Any idea on what could be causing it?

Hey @mo34, thanks for posting here!
Based on everything you described, it sounds like it might be iCloud that's causing it.
Generally we don't suggest that you use two cloud providers on the same path, as it may cause issues such as the one you mentioned.
And since you identified that the issue resolved after uninstalling iCloud, then I tend to believe that was the culprit there.
I hope this helps!

I'm not running icloud on PC and it's been going on for years!
I can't even use Dropbox!
Funny thing is, I can 'browse' normally when you click on the directorys in the left plane of explorer (the tree view) but when you double click you get a freezed system for almost 1 minute! so annoying! Just fix it!

Hi Megan,
Sorry for delayed response, this only happens when opening files from dropbox (not other programs).
big folder size, not sure how to show you image, it wont attach..
Can you email me?

You should be able to attach your screenshot by clicking our camera-like icon, when trying to reply back to me @FLSunshine.

I'd love to email you, however I also want to check a couple more things before I do, just to make sure all the information and troubleshooting is available to other users of our Community too.

that is not a valid option, instead of getting a picture to add I see "source, image description....etc..." no place to add a file or take a picture.
- ssjandres1 year agoExplorer | Level 3I never got an email from you. I checked the spam folder too. Can you please resend? I’ve tried all the options I’ve found, and it’s still no working.

Hey @ssjandres, I just checked and it seems the email was successfully sent to your Community-linked email address, however it is now closed by the system.
Would you mind trying to contact our Support directly on your end, and sending over your ticket number reference?
Also @FLSunshine, would you mind trying to do it using a different browser, please?
Also, do you notice the same behavior if you try to quit the app, and then browse through your Dropbox folder while the app is closed?
- FLSunshine1 year agoExplorer | Level 4
i had to copy and paste this photo, is this what you are after?

Great job @FLSunshine, thanks for that!
Have you also tried the second suggestion from my previous reply about quitting the app? If so, what were the results?
- FLSunshine1 year agoExplorer | Level 4
i have done that many times, it was always crash.

Hey @FLSunshine, just to confirm, does the issue persist, while the Dropbox app is closed?
That would mean that the issue is not actually Dropbox related.
Can you also use these steps here, to remove/unsync some folders from your Dropbox folder, to see if that makes any difference?
- FLSunshine1 year agoExplorer | Level 4
Let me try this and then do a sample for one day of work, then report back.
- FLSunshine1 year agoExplorer | Level 4
so i removed files from sycning, still having the issue of windows explorer freeze only when opening files from dropbox folders.

Is this with the app running or completely closed @FLSunshine?
- Noelinho1 year agoNew member | Level 2
Hey sorry not a solution but just wanted to chime in that this is happening on my Windows 11 Laptop as well.... happens when I click on the root folder but if I navigate to the subfolders under Dropbox, I'm good.
I thought I was the only one but wow...

Hey @Noelinho, could you clarify if this happens with the Dropbox desktop app completely closed as well?
Also, do you happen to have any 3rd party apps that might be syncing, backing up or somehow monitoring your files on the affected computer?
If you could also let us know the app's version as shown in your task bar as well, I'd appreciate it.
