Dropbox installation failed with error 0x80096005

Hello,

I have just got a new laptop with McAfee LiveSafe security and I am having trouble installing Dropbox.

When I try to install it, I get this error message:

Dropbox Installer

Dropbox Update installation failed with error 0x80096005.

Please advise

  • Update: Resolved

I just now upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10. Now, with Windows 10, Dropbox is considered an "app" not a separate program. I just now learned that.

Hey MNJ, are you having trouble installing the Dropbox desktop application with the same error message as the OP?

Any additional info would be really helpful.

I had to leave the new dell with tech support at Office Depot
They couldn’t get it to load either
The same error code continues to come up
    They have it now

Hey MNJ, I hope you’re doing well.

Can you let me know what’s the exact OS version of the device on which you’re having this issue?
