DROPBOX PASSWORDS WILL NOT GO BACK INTO SAFARI EXTENSIONS

Dropbox Passwords disappeared from Safari extensions and will not go back in.

When attempting to put it back in I get the following:

When following the prompt, the whole process begins again....a vicious circle.

My Mac is:

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015) with Mac OS Big Sur

  • Hi CapnBuck, how are you this Wednesday?

Have you made sure that Safari is up to date on the device?

One more thing: I suggest this link, which can be opened directly in Safari.

Can you try it and let me know if this does the trick? Thanks.

Well, now that I've switched to another password manager, Dropbox Passwords is now working correctly. After putting all the energy into setting up another password manager, I'm not sure that I'll go back to Dropbox Passwords. Having it just stop working for no particular reason for a few months is not a strong selling point for the application. Dropbox Passwords does work more quickly than what I'm using now (Secrets), but Secrets seems to be more reliable. Reliability is kinda crucial in a password management application. Just sayin'....

I'm having this same issue.  I've tried reinstalling the extension and still no luck getting it into Safari and enabled.

Hey jkperona, sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

Can you please share some additional information about the problem you're facing? For example, are you getting any specific errors?

Also, have you tried another browser or a private browsing window?

I only use Safari, and this works fine on my M1 MacBook Pro.

Only my older I5 MacBook Pro.  It was working upon to a couple weeks ago.  I noticed the extension was no longer showing.

Yes Im on OSX Monterey with latest updates.

I have the same issue. Have deleted and reinstalled app, restarted a zillion times and even done Mac OS Monterey repair in safe mode. All to no avail.

Help! I really need my passwords!

Below is what I received from Dropbox support to fix my issue in Safari.

    Try the following:

    1. Open the Terminal app
    2. Paste the following command: /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Support/lsregister -f -R /Applications/Safari.app
    3. Press Enter to run the command
    4. Restart Safari
