Dropbox wont appear after install (Windows 11)
Situation: After re-intallation and advanced re-installation of dropbox I am unable start the program. Dropbox application appears and task manager but there is no folder in Windows Explorer, and no dropbox icon in task menu.
Attempts made to resolve:
* Uninstall and reinstall
* Uninistall and reinstall with defender and windows antivirus off
* Advanced uninstall (confirming registry removal) and reinstall with offline installer
OS: Windows 11
Image 1: Windows Explorer (Drobox link shown at top, no dropbox area on left, no synchronization occuring)
Image 2: Services are Running but cant get Application to open
This was resolved by Dropbox support.
* It was determined that the installation had not been completing correctly / fully.
* Creation of a new windows user profile and reinstallation resolved the issue. Likely a setting / corruption was causing dropbox to not be able to be installed correctly.
* Its a fairly simple process of copying over any files from your other user profile to the new user profile in windows.

- karenmmilam4 years agoExplorer | Level 4I will try that. More info….. My new laptop has windows 11. I wouldn’t think that would be a problem. I cannot get Dropbox to show up on desktop or task bar but it is sowing on installed programs. I cannot get it to open. The mouse pointer spins then just stops like I haven’t done anything. Since it will not open I have not been able to log in to download my folder. I have the paid version of Dropbox (don’t remember the name but is about $125 a year). I will try your advice and hope it works. I’ll let you know. Thank you

Take you time, Karen - just keep me posted!
- karenmmilam4 years agoExplorer | Level 4No that did not work. Dropbox does not appear in the task overflow in settings. My computer shows it’s installed but still does not show an icon on the desktop or taskbar. BUT shows in program files as being installed.

In that case, could you try the suggestion from this post and let me know if it helped improve matters, Karen?

Me too.... Windows 11 - none of the techies can help. I've been a Dropbox customer for 10+ years and I can't sign onto my new main desktop...
