How can I restore the older sync icons for the Windows desktop app?
Hi friends! How can I restore the old sync icons for files and folders in Dropbox? Thank you!

Thank you for the details SM14
Are you running Windows 11 (23H2 and above) or Windows 10 (22H2 and above) on the computer where you experienced this change of sync icons? If yes, then you may be experiencing the changes coming with the Dropbox for Windows update that is being rolled out to Dropbox users on Windows 11.
One of those changes is related to the look and location of sync sync icons:
Sync icons have changed to match updated Windows icons
The sync icons next to your files and folders in the Dropbox desktop app have been changed to align with the Cloud Files API.
Is this the change of look in the sync status icons that you are experiencing?
The article also mentions a way to opt out of this update:
If you don’t want to use the Dropbox for Windows update at this time, you can opt-out through your Advanced settings page. To do this:
- Log out of the Dropbox desktop app.
- Log back into the Dropbox desktop app.
- Click Open Dropbox.
- Make your selections on the onboarding screens.
- When setup is finished, click Advanced settings from the final screen.
- Click Opt out under Dropbox for Windows updates.
It will look like this:
Hope this helps,
Andrew (DBoxTips)
