How could I get Dropbox Paper 2020?
How could I upgrade to Dropbox Paper 2020 from the older version?
Hello neosmile.
Thank you for your interest in Paper 2020 .
Currently, the Paper 2020 release is available to new users only. Our team is currently in the works of a new feature in order to build the best Paper experience for all our users. Old and new.
You will hear more about this feature and your Paper docs will live in the Dropbox filesystem, when the development is finalised. What I did -because I honestly couldn't wait- is this: I created a new Dropbox account and shared my old Paper docs to it.Notes:pushpin:- "Old" Paper docs shared with Paper 2020 release users will be available in their Dropbox home and will show in Recents.
- Paper 2020 release docs shared with Legacy users will be available on their Dropbox home, but not in Paper.

My team has transitioned to Teams... I liked Paper much better, but it's impossible to work with.

As a long-time paying user of Dropbox, it's super frustrating that it's October 2021 and and we still don't have a 2020 update, while new users are getting these features.

I think the forum moderators don`t know any more than us, and the rest of Dropbox doesn`t seem to care.

no – there was a certain date in 2020 and all users signin up after that date automatically got the "new version". #
Then Drobpox announced to update all existing users (so long term users in this case because they signed up pre-2020) until the end of 2020 which was pushed to Q3 2021 which is literally in 2 weeks and we haven't gotten any notice yet.
Really really unfortunate – nobody asks to finish until the announced deadline (even if it was pushed once already) but any estimate or update would be helpful to start prepartions for the "new system" or do decision on text-based collaborative tools.

Am I reading this correctly that Dropbox has scrapped the "2020" version of paper, or at least decided not to make it available to long-time users?
It's too bad; re-working Paper seemed like a good idea when I first heard about it.

More than one year from this post, and there still are two different versions of dropbox paper running at the same time. That has no sense at all
This is so annoying to work with collaborations.... I hope you can solve.... tired of hoping.... I´ll start searching for another tool and it´s a pitty.

Hi Lori,
is there any update? Q3 is starting soon and we'd really like to start integrating.

I have to say I am losing my patience here - It's mid 2021, and the lack of a uniform rollout makes collaborating using paper extremely awkward. For example, it seems that many people are unable to create documents in shared folders in the old paper version.
Unless there is some clear communication about when we can expect this to work, my team will look for alternatives.

I am stunned. How has this not been rolled out yet, and why is it so hard to find ANY information about it?
I found a workaround:
– Share a folder from you current dropbox to a new account that has paper 2020
– Through the new account: Make MANY dropbox paper files in that folder (after this sharing permission to new account can be removed)
– The paper-files can me moved throughout your file system, renamed and fully worked with from your old account 🙂
