Hi RockWarrior, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
If you're not on a Dropbox Basic plan with more than 3 devices connected, could you try an advanced reinstall of the app using the steps in this link?
Keep me updated with any progress!

I am on a basic plan and have removed all devices from my account, I thought that might have been part of the issue, but it still happened. I will give the advanced reinstall a go.
Thanks

I attempted the Advanced Reinstall with no luck. This is the error message that pops up.

Are you trying to install the app and have the Dropbox folder on an external drive?
Could you provide the exact version of Mac OS you're running on your system?
- RockWarrior5 months agoExplorer | Level 3
My Home Folder is the external drive. All of my other files are stored on the external drive. OneDrive and local files as well.
The MacOS is Sequoia 15.5 (Up to date)

Hey RockWarrior, I hope it's okay to jump in here as well.
Can you let me know if before the reinstallation of your macOS you were able to use the Dropbox app as normal with the same exact setup?
Were you using the File Provider version of the app?
And lastly, can you take a look at this article to see if you're currently eligible to have your Dropbox folder on your external drive with Dropbox on File Provider?

Hey RockWarrior! I hope that this issue has been resolved for you.

Hi Hannah. I found this thread because my dropbox unlinked some months back from my desktop (still fine on iPhone) and I am having the same error as I try to relaunch/reconnect Dropbox on my Mac OS 15.4.1.
I am trying a standard instal (not on an external drive) with a free plan. I've tried unlinking the Mac via the website, restarting, and upgrading the app, launching while holding down the option key... I've attached screenshots of the sequence of errors I am getting. Thanks for any help!
