Install Error 1073741795 on 2 different computers.
Hello,
To Computers in an Office were suddenly not opening Dropbox. They are both on Windows 11.
There is a 3rd PC in the Office that is the same as 1 of the problem ones, and its working fine.

2 years agoHi CPKNC, what is the exact version of Windows 11 that you're running on those machines?
Are these company-managed devices? Did you install the Dropbox desktop application with admin privileges?
When you say you did a full install, do you mean the advanced reinstallation steps?

PC 1 HP: Windows 11 Home 23H2 Build: 22361.4541
PC 2 Lenovo: Windows 11 Home 23H2 Build: 22361.4541
No, these are not managed by the company through Azure etc, they are Local off the shelf Workstation devices running Home Version, not Pro.
Yes I tried to run as Admin and on another Admin Local Account, still the same.
It has been already mentioned about full install.
Full Install/Full Version = Offline Installer.
Dropbox has attempted to be installed with the standard latest version download via the website which downloads the files for install.
I downloaded the offline installer of the latest version where it doesn't require downloading the files as the files are all present.
Both these methods are also ran as admin.
I have followed the advanced reinstall method on both, to super clear it out. I also required to use software to find all remenants of Dropbox on both at one point, as using Windows Uninstaller List failed to uninstall Dropbox.
I also tried on 1 PC the Microsoft Store version, where I was able to install successfully without error, but trying to load it did nothing, which acted like the original issue to trying to reinstall in the first place.
The PCs stopped loading Dropbox, not only at startup, but at all. Files stopped syncing and could never get to run, even after reboot and clean reboot.
And again, 3rd PC in this Office is the same as PC 1, including version and build, but Dropbox works fine.
Which again makes things odd that 2 different PCs suddenly have the exact same issues at the same time but other devices of the business, including 1 being exactly the same as 1 of the PCs, does not. All attempts fail and the same error in Event Viewer occurs as mentioned in previous comment.

Could you attach a screenshot showing the exact prompt you're getting when installing the Dropbox desktop application?

The popup comes up and says downloading and then installing. It loads for up to a minute then disappears then the new pop up comes up with the unknown error and the long code.
And in case any attempts to ask again, yes, I did the advanced reinstall instructions which didn't work.
