iPhotos no longer working with iCloud on my iMac after updating dropbox
How do move my iPhotos library to a local folder on my iMac so that it once again syncs with iCloud. I need my iPhone to synch with my apps through iCloud.

3 years agoHi Steve A.15, you'll need to locate the iPhoto library and move it back onto your home folder on your Mac, if it's still in the Dropbox folder.
Since the recent Mac OS Dropbox update, it isn't possible to have the Photo library on Dropbox or other cloud providers.

Thanks for your comments.
I have attached my iPhotos library and its position in dropbox. It doesn't drag, I can't cut it , it doesn't allow right click copy and paste. Have you any idea how I can move it back to my iMac?

Hey Steve!
This is actually the Photos tab in your Dropbox account online, which is a place that will show you all the photos that are currently stored in your Dropbox account (regardless of the location they're stored in).
You'd need to do this from the local Dropbox folder on your computer instead. Are you able to find your iPhotos library there?

I have found this in 'camera up loads' but last week's photos are not there. Is this where my camera photos will appear why are ther none from last week. Is there normally a delay as long as this before photos appear?

You enabled the Camera Uploads feature on your Dropbox mobile app, right?
If you open the Dropbox app, do you see that the app is trying to upload these missing photos?
Or do you perhaps see any error messages?

Yes Camera uploads is on. It looks like it trying to upload but has been on the same file for the last hour.

I have reconnected 'Photos 'to my computer to see if that makes a difference but it is now asking me to install the drop box App onto my iMac when I already have it on there. Shall I re-install any way?

Hey Steve, regarding Camera Uploads, can you turn the feature off, close and restart the app and then turn it on again, to see if that does the trick?
As for your computer, can you please clarify, if possible with screenshots, which 'Photos' you reconnected and what the message to reinstall the app says exactly?
Thanks!

Hi
hopefully you can see from this screen shot of the Camera Uploads folder that there doesn't appear to be a feature for turning this off and then back on again. But I do notice that the statement 'import from iPhone' is greyed out. Which presumably means it doesn't connect to my iPhone - I don't know.

As far as I can see there isn't an App called 'Camera Uploads'. It's just the name of a folder nin drop box

Hi Hanna it is the fifth folder from the bottom. This is the list of folders I get from dropbox online

Thanks for the additional info, Steve.
I'm a bit confused as to how your photos are getting uploaded to Camera Uploads. Did you turn it on through the Dropbox app on your phone?
Or are you plugging in your phone to your computer, in order for the photos to get uploaded?

Hi
You asked: Did you turn it on through the Dropbox app on your phone?
My reply: If that is the case the photos are taking over a week to get to my computer. I have taken quite a few photos in the last two days with my phone. None have got to the camera uploads folder yet. May be I will see them there next week. But even so once they are in the camera uploads folder how do I move them to another folder of my own on my iMac as I used to do with the Apple photos App? I used to be able to drag and drop photos from the Apple Photos App to folders on my iMac and sort them into folders of my own choosing. I can't do that now. The DropBox upgrade has resulted in a loss of this functionality for me.
You asked: Or are you plugging in your phone to your computer, in order for the photos to get uploaded?
My reply: no I wish I could. I haven't plugged my phone into my computer for about a year now - if not longer.
It looks like for me the DropBox update was a big mistake that can't be corrected. Will Apple be producing a fix for this do you know.

When your photos do get uploaded to your account and get synced to the camera uploads folder, you should be able to drag and drop them anywhere you want.
You mentioned that you can't do that, can you let us know why?

Yes that is a big thing I wanted to be able to do. But after some experimentation I have now managed to do that - it is different to what I expected . It looks like you have to hold shift and then click on each photo you want to move. I get the message photo could not be moved because it does not exist for some of the photos - when I know they do - strange. I accept I have to learn how this new system works. Is there a user guide I can access.

Hi Steve A.15, currently, there isn't a user guide for the steps you're taking to move files to another location.
