Make offline files visible in the android filesystem

Regarding how to circumvent this issue, has anyone experience with the third party apps meant for that, like Dropsync or Foldersync? I'm wondering how reliable they are (and will be in the future) and how (additionally) unsafe it would be to use one of these with kind of sensitive data.
