My Dropbox app isn't working as expected, the icon does nothing.
Hello -
The Dropbox icon in my application menu sends me to my Dropbox file list in Finder. And that's all it does.
I run a Mac and lost the Dropbox icon/functionality in the Menu Bar when I updated to Monterey. I revisit the problem periodically, reinstall Dropbox, get frustrated and give up for a while. I just realized (duh!) that I don't appear to have a desktop application at all - just a file list. There are sync icons in the file list and the files do sync. But I have no Dropbox functionality or control without going to the website. This can't be right?
Hi cosfordparker, could you try quitting other menu bar icons for other apps to see if this reveals the Dropbox icon, as it's possible that it could be automatically hidden.

Hey cosfordparker, let's jump right into this!
Just to make sure we're on the same page: are you referring to the small Dropbox icon, next to your WiFi, or the bigger, blue icon that should be visible on your desktop? Are you missing both of them, or just one of them?
If you right click on any of your files, do you see the relevant Dropbox options there? If you have any screenshots, feel free to attach them back to us.
Thanks a bunch!

The large blue Dropbox icon takes me to a file list. Right-clicking on a file brings up does not bring up the Dropbox function menu.
The small Dropbox icon that used to be on my menu bar is missing.
Tried to attach screen-shots, but they drop off - sorry!

So - I've been fighting this for months and months - and the Dropbox icon was on the menu bar the whole time - but hidden. Geez. 😳
Thanks!!

My Dropbox Icons on the task bar and desktop BOTH only open my file explorer files list... I click on the Dropbox file to get to my files, but notice the camera uploads from my phone are NEVER up to date. I have to log into the Dropbox website on-line to get it to update. Right clicking on any file in the Dropbox file does NOT bring up any Dropbox features... only the regular file explorer options.

Hi lmp628, thanks for posting here today!
Let's check a few basics first, such as the Dropbox version and syncing status of the app.
You should be able to find this by locating your Dropbox icon on your task bar, next to your WiFi, and hovering your mouse there. Can you check, and let me know more?
Keep me posted!

Hi Megan,
My Dropbox Icon is not near my wifi symbol. The only icons I have are for desktop shortcuts to my Drobox files which are synced with my computer.

Hey lmp628, sorry to jump in here, but I just wanted to mention that if you don't see the Dropbox icon in your menu bar/system tray then the desktop app is probably not running on your computer.
In that case, you can relaunch it from your Apps folder.
Let us know of any updates!

Hi Megan,
There is no Dropbox icon near my wifi icon.
I do have a Dropbox file icon shortcut on my desktop, but that just goes to files.
Thanks,
Lisa
