Need help migrating Dropbox file structure from Win 10 to new Win 11 PC

I have been using Dropbox on Windows 10 for many years, it has served me well.  With Windows 10 becoming non-supported in a few more months and my Win 10 computer not meeting the minimum requirements for upgrading to Windows 11, I decided to buy a new-to-me refurbished HP Prodesk computer which came with Windows 11 Pro pre installed.

My previous Win 10 box had the Dropbox partition at F:\Dropbox.  I want my Win 11 box to also have the Dropbox partition at F:\Dropbox, because multiple scripts, etc. which I have written  expect to find Dropbox files at the F:\Dropbox location.

Somehow I messed up when creating my Dropbox files on the Win 11 box because they are located at C:\Users\boise\Dropbox

My new computer has a single 1TB Disk0 on which I have created a 400GB c:\ and a 400GB f:\ partition.

I created F:\Dropbox

I tried a bunch of stuff and ended up with Dropbox files at both the c:\Users\boise\Dropbox and the F:\Dropbox    It seems like the c:\Users\boise\Dropbox is the valid one because it has the "box" icon, the F:\Dropbox simply has a folder icon.

How do I fix this?  I can't figure it out.  What I want to do now is completely remove both the c:\Users\boise\Dropbox and the f:\Dropbox directory structures.  Then recreate an empty f:\Dropbox structure and let the Dropbox online tools populate the f:\Dropbox structure.

By the way the size of the entire file structure at Dropbox is 245GB, so it takes hours to sync.  Seems wrong that I should have to move the whole structure from Dropbox to my PC again, but I can live with that wait/delay.

Sorry this is so long and perhaps unclear.  I am stuck.  Please help.

Thanks,

Bernie

    Don't do this.

You should never move the Dropbox folder manually. There's an option within Preferences to move the Dropbox folder to a new location. When moving the folder, select the location where you want the Dropbox folder to be located under. If you want it to be F:\Dropbox, select F:\ and the Dropbox folder will be created automatically.
