New message notifications will not go away
I have several “unread” messages from Dropbox which when opened or marked as read the “2” displayed above the icon will not go away. The marked as read button does nothing and there appears to be no way to delete the messages ? Using app on new iPad Pro.
- I ended up removing App from iPhone and reloaded it. Bit of a faff but worked

- Phcalc2 years agoHelpful | Level 6You said it all. This is a major defect with the app. Maybe we should switch off alerts. It’s equivalent to a car alarm that keeps going.

I marked all read & only 1 was marked. They are all the same message about tax time. I can’t get the **bleep** thing to go away, why?????
This is a real pain, came with last update.
- Phcalc2 years agoHelpful | Level 6Well. I reported we can get rid of alerts (unread messages which have been read) by signing off and signing in. Yes it works until next alert. Now I have it back.
Signing off and on is not a fix.

Hi Rick17, have you tried uninstalling the app and then re-installing it, like Jay suggested above?
Also dmarie26, could you send me a screenshot, of your notification area on your desktop, where you notice this issue?

Hi dmarie26, I hope you're doing well!
In regards to your notification when using your Windows device, can you check which version of the Dropbox application you're using, and what's the sync status at the moment?
You can hover over the Dropbox icon in your task bar, to see this info.
Let me know and we'll go from there.

I have the same issue with Windows 11. It's so annoying because I tried to see if there is any message that hasn't been read or if there is any sync error, and there was none.

Right, but after you sign back in, you may not realize that the passcode has been turned off, and that you need to turn it back on again. I thought that the passcode requirement was linked to my profile or account settings, but it’s not.
