I just had the same issue. With the last update Dropbox made all my files and folders online only, without asking me if this was what I wanted.
I followed the instructions to click on the folder icon and make the entire folder available offline and now everything is being downloaded again, which the icon notification indicates is going to take several hours.
I hope I will not have to do this again the next time there is a Dropbox update.
