Syncing issue after Windows profile change

Application Affected
Drobox Sync
Operating System/Browser (if using the web)
Windows 11 Pro
Dropbox App Version (if using the app)
Latest - downloaded yesterday

Question or Issue
Migrated a profile on a Windows computer to a new user yesterday using ProfileWiz.  New user but the profile including the path to the profile and all the permissions are the same.  Done this lots without issue - its our goto solution for user profile migration

Dropbox sync would not start with a permissions error.  Read up on the web and found a response saying I'd need to do an advanced re-install.  Did the uninstall but that seemed to nail it and all the advanced bits were already done, so i just installed the latest version of Dropbox syncs and all seemed good (file selection the same, destination folder the same)

Now (>12hrs later) there are two Dropbox icons in file explorer both seemingly identical; both according to their properties point to the same place.  Looking in c:\users\username\ there is only one Dropbox folder and one version of all files in it

It appears to be syncing everything again and appears to be consuming hard drive space - yet no duplicates seem to be created.

Any thoughts as to what's happening and why - will it be OK if I just leave it?

    Hi there, simontranspeed!

Hope things are going smoothly! Just wanted to check if you still need a hand. If all's well, feel free to share what did the trick.

Thanks for the update and the screenshot, simontranspeed! And hi from me as well!

Are those actually two Dropbox folders or just two instances of the same Dropbox folder in the sidebar?

If both instances take you to the same Dropbox folder that works correctly, syncs, has all the syncing icons and right-click options, etc., can you simply hide one of them from your sidebar?

Not sure what you'll be able to tell from this but see the two Dropbox icon/folder structures above

    Hey simontranspeed!

Happy to see that the initial issue is now resolved!

As for the two Dropbox folders, could you send me a screenshot in order for me to have a visual of that?

Also, keep in mind that you can see your Dropbox folder location by using the app's preferences, and specifically the Sync tab.

Thanks for the speedy response - it seemed to sort itself out and now says all files are up to date.  So now the only oddity is that there are two Dropbox icons/folder structures in file explorer which go to the same place.  Faintly annoying but easily livable with 😀

Hey simontranspeed - thanks for bringing this to our attention.

If this persists after rebooting your computer and/or quitting and relaunching the app, can you send us a screenshot so that we can have a visual too?

    Thank you!
