The app re-indexes all files after each restart on Mac.
Each time I restart my Mac, Dropbox goes through reindexing of (seemingly) all files in my folder. The Mac's CPU usage goes up and the fan kicks in - it makes the computer slow for at least 15 minutes. It does finally complete, but it would obviously be much better if this did not happen.

Hi Paul C.32, how much free storage space do you have on your Mac device?
Do you have any proxy, VPN, firewall, security software, or even ISP/router settings that could be restricting traffic to the following Dropbox domains?

Ok, it looks like pasting works. Here's a few shots of what Dropbox and my CPU usage look like. Even though the Dropbox process itself is not busy, the `fileproviderd` is, as well as `corespotlight` from time to time:

Paul C.32, can you try to post your screenshot here again by copy pasting it in your message box instead? Do you still receive the same error message?

Sad we have this recurring problem. Here it is still going on.

I went through the list and didn't see anything that applied to me.
This just happened again on the very latest MacOS (Sequoia 15.3.2).
I see no way to attach screenshots to this reply. I tried dragging the pictures (PNG files) over but I see an error that says "File not allowed".

I am seeing the same behavior. MacOS 15.3.1 (intel macbook pro). Every restart it is taking a few hours to index about 200k files. My dropbox is setup with "Dropbox on File Provider" and the Dropbox folder location is: "/Users/<username>/Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox".

I see, thanks for letting me know about this Nello Aun
Nevertheless, can you try my previous suggestion and let me know of any updates?

It looks like you're using the beta version of the app Nello Aun - could you try the latest, stable version from this page directly and let us know how it goes?
Just make sure to toggle off the 'early releases' from your account's settings first.
