The desktop app crashes on my MacBook Pro running Mac OS 15.3
I have a continuing problem on a MacBook Pro running the latest 15.3 Sonoma with Dropbox Plus. Periodically I will look for the Dropbox icon in my menu bar and it will not be there, and Activity Monitor says it is not running either. I'll start the Dropbox app again, and it will be visible in the menu bar until the next time it isn't. Seems to be random time lengths. Thoughts?

As another followup I have Dropbox running on an iMac M-3, iMac M-1, 2 Intel MacBooks, and only on this silicon MacBook M-2 do I have a problem...

The comment by DHK is exactly my scenario as well. i always have the latest dropbox installed as it is set to automatically do that. when this issue was troubleshooted for me originally, that was the fix we tried and it had no effect. in fact i;ve just come back to my computer now, having closed it by shutting the lid as described, and seen that dropbox app has quit itself again! i really need this issue to be resolved as it is not workable to have intermittent, unreliable file syncing when working across multiple devices. do you guys have any other ideas as to why the desktop app just quits randomly? (this is also germane only to my newest mac machines - never have this issue on my old imac which i still use at home)

Yes, the Dropbox.app is the most current version. I was never explicit, but I leave the computer on (sleeping with the clamshell closed) when I am not using it. Somehow it crashes during that configuration.

Thanks for giving that a go! Can you also make sure that your desktop app has been updated to our most recent version, in case it’s not already?

I performed the advanced reinstall yesterday and this morning when I opened the MacBook dropbox was not running.

Sorry to hear that, DHK. Can you also go ahead and perform an advanced reinstall instead?

Just to let you know I discovered that the Dropbox app was not visible in my menu bar again... might have disappeared before today, as I usually only look at the app periodically

Hi there nraihani - sorry to hear about this.
It sounds like you've already contacted our support team about this. If that's right, could you let us know your ticket ID so that we can look it up in our system?
Otherwise, please let us know your computer's exact OS version and the version of the Dropbox desktop app installed there as well.
Any additional information or screenshots are more than welcome!

this has been happening to be for nearly a year as well - it is SO annoying because i work across two computers and i frequently find that my files are not synced across devices because of it. I'm actually pretty close to moving to another online cloud storage since no one in Dropbox was able to tell me why this was happening or how to fix it. i will be very interested to see whether you identify a cause.

I tried deleting/re-installing in the past and it came back. However, I just deleted the app and all its dependencies and downloaded and installed v. 217.4.4417. I'll let you know if it happens again.
