Uninstall and reinstall the app. Just know that if you have any files marked as Available Offline, you'll need to mark them as such again.

Hi PDub81, thanks for contacting us.
If you're not on a Dropbox Basic plan with more than 3 devices connected, could you try uninstalling the app, rebooting the device, and re-installing it to see if this helps?
This will help me to assist further!

Thank you. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app. The first couple of attempts editing the text file cause the app to freeze up, but the third time was the charm.

Hi there PDub81 and welcome back to the Dropbox Community. It's great to have you here. I’m really glad to hear the app is working again after the update and thank you for coming back to let us know. That kind of follow-up is always appreciated!
Since you’re using Dropbox on Android, I’d love to hear more about how you use the app and what you typically use Dropbox for. It’s always great to learn how people are getting the most out of it on mobile.
Looking forward to your reply,

I'm sad to report that the problem is back and is not clearing up after repeated attempts or switching files. I can't reinstall the app every time I need to edit a plain text file from my phone. I received an error message that says, "Dropbox keeps stopping." What's the next step?

Are you getting this issue on any plain text file you're trying to edit?
Does this occur with a brand new empty text file?
What is the exact version of Android you're running on your device (if it's not just Android 15), along with any other phone-specific OS?

Yes, it happens with any plain text file. It is an intermittent problem that I can't replicate on demand, but I'll try it with an empty text file next time it happens and report back. System info attached.

Thanks for the additional information and please let us know if you notice this happen again in the future PDub81
In the meantime, you might want to clear the app's cache or even re-install the app.

Both have been done.
