So...
The secret (as is sadly so often the case) is a re-start.
Once I did that, I was able to get the full Dropbox app to install, and now it looks like I can access the Dropbox files correctly.
I don't understand this, but it did the trick.

Mine stopped working a couple of weeks ago on my Win11 PC, with just the startup blue screen with logo shown. Uninstalled and re-installed and now OK. However, had to sign out of existing Win11 and sign back in with new install.
Seems to be working OK now.

Hmm. The latest installation of Dropbox now seems to automatically add a .dropbox file to ALL my USB drives, even though I explicitly told it to NOT backup anything - in other words, don't get involved with what I'm doing. This is NOT good - in one case it's vital that my SD card files are in sequential order, and Dropbox auto-adding its own file wrecks this.
