Dropbox for Office add-on-Office365 suddenly doesn't work with Dropbox
I've used dropbox for quite a while on my hp envy laptop, windows10, office365. Suddenly, every time I try to open an office document (word, excel, pp - all), I get the following msg:
"Excel/Word... is running into problems with the "dropbox for office" add-in. If this keeps happening, disable this add-in and check for available updates. Do you want to disable it now?"
When I clicked YES (disable), it didn't solve the problem. I couldn't open any document without making a copy (and it didn't let me save the original).
This is my all my work here, so this is urgent - anyone can help??
Hey Kaminka, thanks for that!
I'd also love to have a visual just to get a sense if this message is coming from Microsoft's end or our end.
Is your Dropbox app currently running, and if so would you mind clarifying the version that you're using?
You should be able to locate it by hovering your mouse over the little Dropbox icon on your taskbar, next to your WiFi.

Hey Kaminka, welcome to our Community!
I'm guessing you're using your desktop to open the files, right? If not, then do you use Office Online, by any chance?
Would you be able to send me a screenshot of the message you see on your end, please? Also, what plan do you use on your end?
Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!

Hi Megan,
Yes, I'm using desktop. The dropbox file is part of my desktop as well.
Plan = office 365, and the 1TB dropbox plan.
I don't have a screenshot, but copied the message in full:
"Excel/Word... is running into problems with the "dropbox for office" add-in. If this keeps happening, disable this add-in and check for available updates. Do you want to disable it now?"
Does that help?
