Editing an Excel file on my iPhone. Is this possible?
Hi, I hope I am asking this question in the right category. If not I am sorry. But my problem is that I have generated an Excel file on my desktop and copied and pasted into my Dropbox. When I open this file in Dropbox on my iPhone I can view, cut and copy the file but I cannot edit it. I have the Excel app installed on my phone, but even using the app the function to edit is not there. Does anybody out there know a solution to this as I am led to believe I should be able to edit this kind of file

Hey floater1, welcome to our Community!
Does this happen with all your Excel files, or just this specific one?
Also, if you open the Excel app on your iPhone, and try to ope and edit the file through it, do you have any results?
Let me know more, and we'll take it from there.

Hi floater1, is this a read-only file? What is the exact file extension for the file?
A screenshot showing what you're seeing in the Excel app would be great.
- floater12 years agoExplorer | Level 3The file type is an xlsx file type.
- floater12 years agoExplorer | Level 3When I open the file in Excel a message at the top states ‘ To edit and save, sign in with a subscription’. Does this help you in understanding what is wrong

Hey floater1 - sorry to jump in here, but have you ensured that you're logged into a Microsoft account on the Excel app?
A screenshot of the exact error would be extremely helpful as Jay pointed out.
- floater12 years agoExplorer | Level 3Hi Walter, I went back to the file in Excel and clicked on sign in and that took me to registering for Microsoft Premium 365 . I thought it was free to use Excel in Dropbox
- floater12 years agoExplorer | Level 3Also you asked for a screen shot of the error. How do I do that?

You can attach a screenshot to your reply through the camera icon (insert photo option) within your reply's box floater1
If you're using a web browser on a mobile device and not seeing it, try requesting the desktop version of the web-page.
