I can't edit Excel files on my new iPad, without paying. Why?
Excel on New ipad wont let me edit without paying. Older ipad and phone still let me use dropbox/excel as i have done for a long time. How can i transfer to new ipad?

Thanks for your help and yes this seems to be the case. i’ve now downloaded Collabora Office, which is working well for my purposes and deleted excel.

Thats a conversation you'll need to have with Microsoft as its Excel which opens the file.
My guess is that you have installed a newer version which is now on the licence option rather than free (i.e. Office 365 vs. standalone Excel) OR you havent logged in to Excel/Office correctly with the licence.
