Thanks for posting your question to our Community, Measle.
Indeed, this promotion with Adobe does exist, however, it cannot be redeemed if you're already on a Dropbox Plus subscription, just like the error message mentioned.
It works for existing users, just not the ones that have already purchased their plan.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Don't worry. I spent 3 days talking to both Dropbox and Adobe support and neither could help me. I went through every department possible. The last agent, from Adobe, told me that this was not a discount that they give, that they could only offer Acrobat instead.
I followed all the steps. I unsubscribed from my current dropbox plan, waited for it to expire, and there was no change, the same error appears "The cash code can’t be applied, please contact sales for more information."
My recommendation is that you save yourself the time and frustration, and continue paying Dropbox at full price, or find another cloud storage provider. I don't understand how a company is not able to offer what it advertises on its own official website. Shameful.

yes, it's messed up. I'm glad I made this post as it's clearly an issue many have had and I'm sure hundreds more who haven't progressed to commenting here.
Hopefully Adobe and Dropbox will work this out so as to retain loyal customers. There are so many other file sharing / storage providers out there. Adobe are offering a deal with WeShare and they have the T&Cs clearly on their site. So to me this seems like it's a Dropbox issue.

I got email from Dropbox team:
According to my understanding, you are trying to activate the 50% off as a benefit of having an Adobe subscription.
I'm very sorry, but the only Adobe-related discount had expired a couple of weeks ago. It's so funny. Dislike Dropbox for this.
