Is it possible that you're trying to use an address that's already used by another Dropbox account?
You can test this by attempting to sign in with that address and requesting a password reset.
If a password rest email comes to this address, it means it's already associated with a Dropbox account.
Let me know what you find.

I understand everything above. I have one account (A) which has 3mb storage and another (B) which has 15mb storage. Both work on my new laptop however I have not used A for some time and it starts up each time I start up my new computer whereas I want B to start up on my new computer like it did on the old one. A has the email address of my new computer and B has an old obselete email address from 2014. As you mention above I cannot have 2 email addresses for the basic Dropbox Account and I am worried if I cancel A will I then be able to edit B and change the email to the email address of A and keep the 15mb. In summary I just want to rename B to A but keep the contents of B and am happy to dump the contents of A hope you can help. Perhaps there may be another way?? where I can just start up my new computer like my old one with B as the default, without changing anything... Hope you can help

Hey mifs! So, to make sure Iâm on the right track, you want to link the email address of account A to your B account instead and connect it to the desktop app of your new computer. Correct?
When asking about cancelling account A, do you mean that youâd like to delete it entirely?
Let me know, and weâll go from there.

Hello Nancy,
I worked out the solution from the information listed here and other Google sources. I transferred the old account ( 3mb)to another email address and moved the new account (15mb) into the address that the old account occupied and all worked well. The solution is that you cannot have 2 accounts with the same email address and either one has to be deleted or moved to another email address. Pretty simple when you know what to do
Kind regards mifs1
