Remove Dropbox from Windows' context menu
I come again with to ask for an option to remove Dropbox entries from Window's context menu. The reason is I am visually impaired and I must use tools to have greater fonts showed in my screen. I must use also the magnifying glass and other availability resources. Then the 7 (seven!) context menu options that Dropbox has added to my Windows File Explorer context menú (in teh upper part of it) makes my context menu so difficult to access the bottom options of the list that I have serious problems to do my job.
Believe me this should absolutely be an option the user should be able to deal with, and not an option forced by Dropbox.
The topic was already raised in a previous post (Add option to remove Dropbox options from context menu) by Martsssssss and upvoted by six more people (see below) but has been closed by reasons I cannot understand (Inactivity?)
It would be great to have it reopened and taken very seriously. Handicapped people like me will greatly thank it.

Hi JVN,
Sorry to hear about that. Yes this would just be a temporary solution and updating Dropbox would revert this back. As I mentioned previously, I have flagged this internally to see if anything can be done here.

Even if they had gone away, they would have just come back the next time the Dropbox application updated itself. It's not a permanent solution.

Hi Neal,
The suggested solution did not work for me. I deleted the mentioned entries at both *\shellex and Directory\sellex but still I have the Dropbox entries at my File Explorer menu. Thanks, though, for the suggestion.

Hi JVN,
Thanks for sharing this feedback with us! I've shared this with our Product team so that it's on their radar and we can see what's possible.
This may take time to be reviewed but in the meantime I've moved this out of our Ideas section, as I believe I actually have a workaround for this issue that you can try right now!
You can delete a couple of entries in your registry that enable the Dropbox options in your Windows context menu. Editing the registry incorrectly can break things though, make a backup first.- Press Win + R, type regedit, hit Enter.
- Navigate to one or both of these keys:
- HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
- HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
- Look for entries named DropboxExt (sometimes with numbers, e.g. DropboxExt1, DropboxExt2).
- Right-click → Delete the DropboxExt entries.
- Close Registry Editor and restart Explorer (Ctrl+Shift+Esc → find Windows Explorer → right-click → Restart).
Let me know how you get on with this.
