Death and gaining access

Hi there,

My husband recently died. I need to gain access to his account. I remember his password but for the 2 step validation I need to access his email which has now been shut down. Any suggestions on how I can contact dropbox so that I can send the letter and the death certificate?

Thanks team!

The only problem is... that page takes me to the support page where there is no option to open a ticket. I feel like I'm in a Catch-22. My friend died and his mother is legally blind, and there's no way to get access to his files or cancel his account. Help!

    Thanks 🙂

    Hi mphilips66, I hope you're doing well!

Would it be okay for me to reach out to your Community linked email?

I'd be happy to look deeper into this for you.

    Let me know.

Hi - I have new information regarding this issue. Unfortunately I am still unable to open a ticket. Can someone please contact me?

    Thank you!

I have a bit of a deeper question.   If my wife and I were to pass away due to an accident, is there any way to give my daughter's immediate access to dropbox without going the court order route?   There has to be away knowing they may not have access to my email, my phone nor my desktop.  Is there a way to designate them as an authorized party?

Hi stevemolander, aside from the method described in this article, there isn't another official method to do so, since there isn't an option for an authorized party.

There is a feature for Dropbox Vault for a trusted contact, but that is only to download the information in the Vault itself, without any other access to your Dropbox account.
